Shannon Rattray

Current principal and co-owner of Kanata Academy . She is also co-owner of Kanata Academy Online, Kanata Academy International and the Ottawa Sports Academy.  She has taught and is certified in all grades from Kindergarten to Grade 12 and has her special education designation. 

Shannon purchased Kanata Academy Private School with her husband, Dr. Kevin Rattray, in 2011 and has been school principal since that time. She has overseen the rapid growth

of the school, its construction of a dedicated, larger location on Huntmar Drive in Kanata, and its expansion to offer a high school curriculum.

Chris Schwarz

With over 20 years experience coaching and rehabilitating elite professional and amateur athletes, Chris is one of the most sought after strength and conditioning coaches in the country.

Chris Neil 

Well known to Ottawa sports fans, Chris played 17 seasons in the NHL,  all 1,121 regular and postseason games with the Ottawa Senators.

He previously played 3 seasons in the OHL with the North Bay Centennials and 2 seasons in the IHL with the Grand Rapids Griffins. 

Chris has maintained strong local roots and is still heavily involved with the Ottawa Senators Alumni, the new Ottawa Senators Foundation and the minor hockey scene in the Ottawa Valley. He currently runs Neil Stars, a popular local hockey development program.  ​​

He currently lives in west-end Ottawa with his wife Caitlin, and 3 children, Hailey, Cole and Finn. 

Brendan Bell 

Brendan played 13 years of professional hockey in the NHL, AHL, KHL, Switzerland, Sweden and Austrian leagues. He spent the 2009 season with his hometown Ottawa Senators, and since retiring in 2016 has been heavily involved with Ottawa Senators Alumni and the formerly known Ottawa Senators Foundation.

Brendan is involved in multiple entrepreneurial ventures but in his day job, serves as a financial advisor who works with business owners and families on tax, estate, corporate and succession planning.

Brendan coaches both boys and girls hockey with NMHA and NGHA. He is the father of three young athletes and is married to Monika. They live in the Manotick area.

Andy Bryan

Andy is an experienced hockey coach, instructor, administrator, association executive, and program director. As a lifelong student of the game, he began coaching over 20 years ago and served in both head and assistant coaching roles at levels of minor hockey from Initiation to Midget in boys (coed) and female hockey, including several years as a Tier I Head Coach. He is currently serving as Head Coach at the U13 AAA level in Ottawa. 

He is a skill development professional; having been responsible for hockey development programs for over 100,000 players in the Ottawa-Gatineau region over the course of his career.

Andy has been with the Ottawa Senators organization since 2001 and has been part of the Hockey Programs team at the Sensplex facilities since 2004. He is currently the Director of Hockey Programs for the Ottawa Senators Hockey Programs; maintaining responsibility for all tournaments, leagues, and skill development programs for all players from beginners, to recreational, competitive, elite, and adults. He is the Club Director of the Senators Spring AAA Hockey Development organization.

Shelley Kettles

Shelley Kettles is a renowned technical skating specialist. She  skated competitively from the age of 10, and started her coaching career at 18. She has coached at the national and international figure skating levels for 25 years. 

She utilizes her expertise in all the technical aspects of skating and incorporates these skills with an extensive skill development program. She instills confidence and brings out maximum performance in every player.

She has coached National Figure Skating Champions to top round draft picks in the OHL/NHL. As well as working with the Ottawa Senators she works with many other OHL/AHL and NHL players in the off season. Currently, Shelley coaches hockey players from IP all the way to the NHL. We are thrilled to have her on the OSA team.

Dr. Kevin Rattray

Co-owner of Kanata Academy, Kanata Academy Online and the Ottawa Sports Academy. Kevin attended the University of Ottawa and the University of Western Ontario where he earned his BSc, MSc and DDS. He is the owner of 2 popular dental offices, including a new location on Hazeldean Road, not far from the Bell Sensplex. 

Kevin has extensive experience in the Ottawa sports medical scene as he is the head team dentist for the OHL’s Ottawa 67’s, the CFL’s Ottawa Redblacks and the University of Ottawa Men’s Hockey Team. He is a Level II Hockey trainer and has been on the medical staff for multiple sporting events in Ottawa including the Womens’ FIFA World Cup and the IIHF Women’s Hockey Championships.

Cal Lavallee

Cal Lavallee is a long-time business owner and has been a resident in the community for over 20 years. He is the owner of Absolute Office and co-owner of Kanata Academy International and Ottawa Sports Academy.

Cal will lend his experience in facilitating educational institutions to use their space to create learning environments that are safe and conducive to communication, creativity, and collaboration between students and educators. He specializes in creating classrooms that foster student engagement, enable a wide range of teaching styles, and are adaptive to a variety of users and uses. 

Hanna-Riikka Turpeinen

Current Head of Hockey Development for the Ottawa Senators Hockey Programs; responsible for planning and leading ice sessions for thousands of players from beginner to elite and for training and developing OSHP instructional staff. 

Hanna works primarily with competitive and elite athletes in our high-performance programs, including Power Edge Pro and more.

Hanna has been with the Senators organization for nearly four years in both part-time and full-time positions coaching and instructing our athletes. She is one of the top instructors in the Ottawa-Gatineau region.

Julie Knerr

Joins  the growing SSHD AAA Hockey Club for the 2021 season as a Team Head Coach, Skills Instructor, and Senior Player Development Specialist. Fresh from three seasons as an NCAA coach at Syracuse University (D1). Julie returned to SU after a very successful playing career where she served as team captain in her senior year (2014-15). She worked as both an assistant and head coach at the Selects Academy in Rochester New York.

Dave Stathos

Dave Stathos has over 25 years of experience coaching goalies of all levels in Canada, the U.S.A and Europe. In his career as a goalkeeper, Dave played professional hockey in Finland and Sweden’s Elite Leagues and tried-out for the Philadelphia Flyers in 2002. He also played and graduated from Princeton University where he studied Sport Psychology and the mental aspects of goaltending. 

Dave is now the owner of the Goalie Performance Center, a year-round goalie training school in Ottawa that operates from the Bell Sensplex in Kanata and the Richcraft Sensplex in Gloucester.

Dave teaches intermediate French, Science, and Physical Education at the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board. He is also a Trained Master Level 3 Hockey Canada Goaltending Instructor and delivers goaltending courses to coaches for Hockey Eastern Ontario. His passion for teaching and goaltending is endless and he brings a high level of energy and motivation to every single goalie and coach he encounters. As hockey gets more competitive every year on a global level, mental training and preparation have now become essential skills to develop in order to set any athlete apart from the rest of the competition.


A.D.A.P.T. Jazz/Tap – Head of Jazz

Tenetia grew up as a competitive dancer in Southern California. She has had extensive training in ballet, Jazz, Lyrical/Contemporary, Modern and Tap, and has trained with acclaimed teachers such as Mandy Moore (SYTYCD), Kim Borgaro (OTE), Ray Leeper (NUVO), John Crutchman (WCDE), Henry LeTang, Doug Caldwell and Robert Duran, to name a few. Her performing/professional credits include; EFX starring Tommy Tune at the MGM Grand (Dancer);STORM at the Mandalay Bay under the direction of Jamie King (Madonna, Brittney Spears),Melissa Williams and Carla Kama (Dancer) Holland America Cruise Line (dancer/singer, dance captain) Stiletto Entertainment under the direction of Gary Kief (Barry Manilow) (Asst. choreographer/ Casting Asst.)Industrial shows and conventions, including Paul Mitchell and BeBe (dancer/model) MGM theme park in Las Vegas (Dancer, dance captain). Tenetia has been teaching for 20+ years across the USA and Canada.

She is known for her attention to detail and clean, precise movement. Her choreography has won numerous overall standings, special awards and choreography awards. Her former students can be seen performing all over the world in New York, Branson, Disney, on cruise ships, national commercials and music videos. Tenetia spends her free time with her husband and three children. She continues to educate herself in the dance industry so that she can provide new and innovative techniques to her students while keeping them safe and excited to learn. She takes pride in teaching from a mother’s point of view and strives to teach with a fair and kind approach resulting in dancers who are not only artists but also good humans. 2019/2020 marks her 8th season with CCD, whom has become her second family. She is incredibly proud of her former and current students, and is excited to work with CCD for many years to come.

R​AD RTS, ADAPT, PBT, Acrobatic Arts, BCom

Delrina began dancing at the age of 3 and was classically trained in Ballet with The Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) syllabus, and trained in Jazz and Tap with the Associated Dance Arts for Professional Teachers (ADAPT) syllabus. She has completed various dance exams in Ballet (RAD), Jazz (ADAPT) and Tap (ADAPT).

Delrina is a Registered RAD Ballet Teacher (RAD RTS), Certified Jazz and Tap Teacher (ADAPT), Certified Progressing Ballet Technique Teacher (PBT), Certified Acrobatic Arts Teacher and holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree. She is an accomplished dancer, teacher, and choreographer, who regularly attends dance teacher courses and workshops to progress her teaching and choreography skills for her students. Delrina’s enthusiastic personality and positive approach to teaching motivates and encourages all of her students as they grow and learn through the art of dance


ADAPT Jazz/Tap, Head of Conditioning/Strength/Stretch

Dorina is an Ottawa native who began dancing at the age of 3. She has extensive training in the areas of ballet, jazz, tap, contemporary and hip hop. Dorina grew up as a competitive dancer winning many scholarships and titles, training internationally with renowned instructors such as Mia Michaels, Lauriann Gibson, Ray Leeper, Gus Giordano, Kenny Wormald, and many others!

After relocating to Toronto to purse her professional career, Dorina began working in television and film. Her credits include Universal studios, Miramax Studios, MTV, MuchMusic, Industrial Events and adjudicating varies Dance competitions. Dorina has extended her vast dance background into the areas of fitness and health over the years. Developing her own fitness program called “Next Level Fitness” to enhance mobility, strength, flexibility, weight training/management and overall health. Next Level Fitness has generated tremendous notoriety due to Dorina’s method of providing positive, and energetic training while achieving successful results to all of her clients from dancers to athletes to families of all ages and levels alike! Dorina is passionate about creating a unique and powerful environment for all of her students and clients to thrive in.
